Running Trim on a standalone notebook...

Many notebooks will fail to access the MS SQL database engine when no network is present, hence not allowing the Trim application to open.  Follow these steps to get over this problem:

1) Install the latest updates of Trim Practice Management.

2) Edit the Hosts file.  You will need to be the Administrator of your system to do this.  The hosts file is found at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.  Add the following line to the end of the file...

127.0.0.1       localhost

and then save the file.  This is called a loopback reference and allows your network card to access itself when no cable is plugged in.

3) Edit the footbase.ini file.  You will need to bo the Administrator of your system to do this.  The footbase.ini file is found at C:\WINDOWS.  There is also a user copy for Windows Vista and Windows 7 located at file:///C:/Users/UserName/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Windows (where UserName is your user name) and both will need to be changed.  Change the following lines...

[SERVER]
-- main patient database --
LOCATION=localhost

-- local reporting database --
REPORTDATA=localhost

-- video anlysis database --
VIDEODATA=localhost

[LICENSING]
-- explicitly set license location 0 = NO (Default) 1 = YES --
USELICENSELOCATION=1

-- set to either LOCAL or SERVER --
GETLICENSEFROM=LOCAL
